Torremolinos se encuentra en la provincia de Málaga, está situado en la Costa del Sol, en la orilla occidental de la bahía de Málaga en el mediterráneo de Andalucía.

En el año 2020 contaba con 69 166 habitantes, que lo convierten en el sexto municipio más poblado de la provincia.

En la década de 1950, se fue uno de los principales destinos escogido por los visitantes por el sol y playa de España, el primero de Andalucía y de la Costa del Sol. La afluencia de extranjeros, intelectuales, bohemios, hippies, artistas, aristócratas, personalidades de la jet-set y turistas en general durante los años 1960 y años 1970 creó un ambiente liberal, permisivo y cosmopolita que lo diferenciaba de otras zonas de la Costa del Sol, convirtiéndose en uno de los mayores referentes del ocio musical y nocturno de España.
