LA MANO DEL DESIERTO DE ATACAMA

 La mano de Atacama es uno de los monumentos que llaman la atención de los visitantes en el desierto Chileno. Se encuentra  a 75 km de la ciudad de Antofagasta. Fue construida por el escultor Mario Irarrazabal, quien utilizo hormigón armado, hierro y cemento logrando que la figura llegue a 11metros de altura, el autor intenta expresar emociones como la soledad, vulnerabilidad humana. Se inauguro en el año 1992.

Los turistas tienen diversas interpretaciones de la obra, algunos sostienen que la mano despide al viajero. Otros creen que la obra representa a las victimas durante la época militar.

La mano se ha concertado en un lugar atractivo  para los turistas que recorren la ruta 5, que forma parte de la carretera Panamaericana. 

The Atacama hand is one of the monuments that draw the attention of visitors in the Chilean desert. This sculpture is located 75 km from the city of Antofagasta. It was built by the sculptor Mario Irarrazabal, who used reinforced concrete, making the figure reach 11 meters in height, the author tries to express emotions such as loneliness, human vulnerability. It was inaugurated in the year 1992.

Tourists have different interpretations of the work, some maintain that the hand dismisses the traveler. Others believe that the work represents the victims during the military era.
