Feria de Fuengirola - Virgen del Rosario
El fervor popular por la Virgen del Rosario comienza con el arribo a la capilla del castillo una imagen de la inmaculada, en la época de la reconquista.
Los antecedentes históricos indican que se la llamo Virgen del Rosario desde sus inicios, adoptándola como patrona de la ciudad.
A causa de la ocupación francesa
la Virgen fue desplazada a la Posada Del Tarahal, donde hoy en día se encuentra
la Parroquia. La figura original fue desbastada a causa de la guerra civil de
los años treinta.
En el año 1947 una de las
familias más importantes de la ciudad dona la imagen actual de la Virgen del Rosario.
Años más tardes en 1954 el Ayuntamiento le otorgo el título de “Alcaldesa Mayor
Honoraria Y Perpetua” convirtiéndose de forma oficial en la patrona del
municipio.
Hemos encontrado algunos antecedentes historicos que demuestran
que esta festividad se celebraba con mucha anterioridad. Desde 1900 en adelante
se ha hallado información de este festejo, como por ejemplo los preparativos,
gastos, programas. Algunos de los datos
que se encontraron es que el día de la inauguración se realizaba una
misa en honor a la patrona de la ciudad, y los posteriores días que duraba la
feria se hacían diferentes actividades para que el pueblo se divirtiera.
En la actualidad esta feria está
entre una de las tres festividades mas importante de Andalucía, se diferencia y
resalta de las demás ferias por la distinción
de los caballos y que tanto jinetes como amazonas lucen impecables trajes típicos andaluz. Se ubica
en el Recinto Ferial del municipio decorado con luces que alegran el lugar.
Hoy ya está todo listo para que
el municipio de Fuengirola inaugure el festejo en honor a su patrona la virgen
del Rosario del 6 al 12 de octubre.

At present this fair is among one of the three most important festivities in Andalusia, it differs and stands out from the other fairs for the distinction of the horses and that both riders and Amazons wear impeccable typical Andalusian costumes. It is located in the fairground of the municipality decorated with lights that brighten up the place.
Today everything is ready for the municipality of Fuengirola to inaugurate the celebration in honor of its patron saint the Virgin of Rosario from October 6 to 12.
