ESCULTURAS DEL CRISTO DE LA QUEBRADA

 Magnas esculturas del Cristo de la Quebrada – San Luis- Argentina.

En 1952 llega a Buenos Aires y de allí a San Luis, proveniente de  Italia, una serie de obras de arte que componen el “Vía Crucis” más significativo de la Argentina.

Se trata de “sesenta y cuatro” piezas esculpidas  casi tamaño natural en mármol de Carrara, por el artista Nicolás Arreghini, escultor italiano, que dejó su impronta renacentista en cada obra, otorgándole vida mediante la fuerza expresiva, la sutileza del detalle y los propios parámetros compositivos de proporción, forma, movimiento y texturas.

Cuenta la historia, que un hachero llamado Don Tomás Alcaráz, encontró en el corazón de un viejo algarrobo, “un crucifijo”, protegido por el árbol y por el tiempo. Un milagro para los lugareños.

A 40 km de la ciudad Capital de San Luis se encuentra un localidad llamado “Villa de la Quebrada”, lugar del hallazgo, de la construcción de la Capilla y del magnífico emplazamiento en las sierras sanluiseñas  que contienen y  coronan este genial conjunto escultórico. Además, rodeado por un arroyo que acarrea agua de manantiales  y vertientes cercanos, completa un aspecto virtuoso a la imagen escenográfica.

Magnificent sculptures of Cristo de la Quebrada - San Luis- Argentina.

In 1952, a series of works of art that make up the most significant “Via Crucis” in Argentina arrived in Buenos Aires and from there to San Luis, from Italy. It is about "sixty-four" pieces sculpted almost life-size in Carrara marble, by the artist Nicolás Arreghini, an Italian sculptor, who left his Renaissance mark on each work, giving it life through expressive force, the subtlety of detail and his own compositional parameters of proportion, shape, movement and textures.

The story goes that an ax man named Don Tomás Arcarás, found in the heart of an old carob tree, “a crucifix”, protected by the tree and by time. A miracle for the locals. At 40 km from the capital city of San Luis there is a place called "Villa de la Quebrada", the place of the discovery, the construction of the Chapel and the magnificent location in the San Luis mountain ranges that contain and crown this brilliant sculptural group.
