¿QUIEN FUE GUAYASAMIN?

 Guayasamín  fue un destacado pintor, dibujante, escultor, grafista y muralista ecuatoriano, cuyos orígenes eran indígena, padre era quechua y su madre era mestiza. Era el mayor de diez hermanos. Desde la infancia demostró su talento para las actividades artísticas. Se dice que en la escuela primaria hacia caricaturas de sus profesores y compañeros.

El padre de Oswaldo estuvo en desacuerdo con la orientación artística que estaba tomando su hijo, a pesar del desacuerdo ingreso a la  escuela de bellas arte de Quito donde genero su propio estilo.

En el año 1942 a los veintitrés años realizó su primera exposición en Quito. Uno de los grandes admiradores del artista fue el político estadounidense Nelson Rockefeller quien compro varias de sus obras.

Vivió unos años en estados unido, con las obras y trabajos que realizo viajo a México donde fue asiste del destacado muralista Orozco. Un tiempo después realizo un viaje por Latinoamérica Perú, Brasil Argentina y Uruguay en donde investigo como vivían los aborígenes locales, ese fue su tema en sus obras

Oswaldo Guayasamín falleció en los Estados Unidos  no pudo  terminar una de sus obras mas icónicas “La Capilla del Hombre”. Sus restos se encuentran bajo el Árbol de la Vida, un pino plantado por el propio pinto en la que fue su casa en Quito y hoy en día es la Casa Museo Guayasamín.

Guayasamin was a prominent Ecuadorian painter, draftsman, sculptor, graphic artist and muralist, whose origins were indigenous, his father was Quechua and his mother was mestizo. He was the oldest of ten siblings. From childhood he demonstrated his talent for artistic activities. It is said that in elementary school he made caricatures of his teachers and classmates.

Oswaldo's father disagreed with the artistic orientation that his son was taking, despite the disagreement he entered the school of fine art in Quito where he generated his own style.

In 1942, at the age of twenty-three, he held his first exhibition in Quito. One of the great admirers of the artist was the American politician Nelson Rockefeller who bought several of his works.

He lived a few years in the United States, with the works and works that he made he traveled to Mexico where he was assisted by the prominent muralist Orozco. Some time later he made a trip to Latin America Peru, Brazil Argentina and Uruguay where he investigated how the local aborigines lived, that was his theme in his works

Oswaldo Guayasamín passed away in the United States and could not finish one of his most iconic works "La Capilla del Hombre". His remains are found under the Tree of Life, a pine planted by the artist himself in what was his home in Quito and today is the Guayasamín House Museum.
