Es uno de los yacimientos arqueológicos más importantes del centro argentino.

Ofrece al visitante la magia de tomar contacto con los primeros pobladores de la región, mediante miles de dibujos protegidos por cientos de aleros, que han sobrevivido a los tiempos.

Emplazada en el noroeste cordobés, los primeros pobladores datan de ocho mil años. Sin embargo los testimonios gráficos, tienen entre mil doscientos y quinientos años.

Los primeros habitantes eran nómades, vivían de la caza de la pesca y la recolección, poseían gran capacidad para recorrer largas distancias y habilidad para fabricar instrumentos para capturar a sus presas. Lanzas, flechas cuyas  puntas eran de cuarcita, una piedra verdaderamente dura. También confeccionaban morteros para moler granos, raspadores y percutores.

Con el tiempo los primeros habitantes comenzaron a  dominar técnicas agrícolas que favorecieron el estacionamiento temporario

Finalmente  las culturas agroalfareras comenzaron a desarrollarse en los primeros tiempos de la era cristiana. Los lugareños vivían en casa pozo, sembraron maíz, domesticaron llamas, animal que les proveía de lana , leche y carne.

ARTE RUPESTRE:

La danza, la música y la gráfica eran los lenguajes artísticos representativos de estos grupos humanos. Estos pueblos conocían técnicas de pintura utilizando pigmentos vegetales y minerales, mezclado con grasa animal.

Usaron colores rojo, extraído del óxido de hierro, el blanco, del  sulfato de calcio, procesado de los huesos y las cáscaras de huevo. El negro del manganeso – pirolicita.

Cerros Colorados lugar cuyo punto de convergencia son los departamentos de Río Seco, Sobremonte y Tulumba, formado por los cerros: Colorado, Veladero e Inti Huasi, sitio donde los aleros favorecían el alojamiento de los pueblos originales.

Sin embargo no todo era paz y tranquilidad en estas tierras, las fuertes guerras entre Comechingones y Sanavirones fueron registradas en estos frisos. Lanzas, flechas, figuras humanas, sol, aves , camélidos, búho, relatan fuerte historias.

These peoples knew painting techniques using vegetable and mineral pigments, mixed with animal fat. They used red colors, extracted from iron oxide, white, from calcium sulfate, processed from bones and eggshells. Manganese black - pyrolicite.
