MUSEO DE BELLAS ARTES DE SEVILLA

Hoy conoceremos el  Museo de Bellas Artes de Sevilla  fundado como "Museo de pinturas" el 16 de septiembre de 1835 por real decreto. Fue un antiguo convento en los terrenos cedidos por Fernando III luego de conquistar Sevilla.

Desde su inauguración como museo el edificio ha sufrido varias intervenciones. La primera fue entre 1868 y 1898 en la que se restauró las arquerías y muros de la primera planta, además del alicatado con azulejos provenientes de conventos. La segunda durante 1942 y 1945 con la inauguración del patio de las conchas en el espacio de la sacristía y se traslado la fachada principal barroca a la calle Bailen y por ultimo en 1987 finalizando en 1993 se restauro la totalidad del edificio a las exigencias de las regulaciones actuales.

Fundamentalmente se puede apreciar pintura sevillanas de los siglos XV al XX siendo lo mas destacado la pintura barroca y la del siglo XIX . Cuenta también con una importante colección escultórica, cerámica y dibujos. Menos importante son sus colecciones de muebles, orfebrería y textiles.

Se puede admirar las obras de artistas tales como: Zurbarán, Murillo, Valdés Leal, Pietro Torrigiano, Martínez Montañes, Juan de Mesa, Antonio Mª Esquivel, José Villegas, Gonzalo Bilbao, José García Ramos

Today we will visit the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville founded as a "Museum of paintings" on September 16, 1835 by royal decree. It was an old convent on the land ceded by Fernando III after conquering Seville.

Murillo "San geronimo penitencia" 1665

Since its inauguration as a museum, the building has undergone several interventions. The first was between 1868 and 1898 in which the arcades and walls of the first floor were restored, in addition to the tiling with tiles from convents. The second during 1942 and 1945 with the inauguration of the Patio de las Conchas in the sacristy space and the main Baroque façade was transferred to Bailen street and finally in 1987 ending in 1993 the entire building was restored to the requirements of the current regulations

Zurbarán "Cristo crucificado"

Fundamentally, you can see Sevillian painting from the 15th to the 20th centuries, the most outstanding being Baroque painting and that of the 19th century. It also has an important collection of sculptures, ceramics and drawings. Less important are its collections of furniture, jewelry and textiles.
