Visitando Madrid

Hoy viajamos por Madrid, capital Española. Algunos de los datos curiosos de esta ciudad se remontan del siglo IX, con la construcción de la fortaleza del emir Mohammed I. Esta fue construida en el lugar que en la actualidad se encuentra el Palacio Real con el propósito de vigilar los pasos de la sierra de Guadarrama y ser punto de partida de razzias contra los reinos cristianos del norte. Esta construcción terminó siendo el punto de partida de la fundación de Madrid

Cuando los musulmanes abandonaron Madrid, la fortaleza fue ocupada temporalmente en el año 932 por Ramiro II y, posteriormente, Alfonso VI la incluyó entre los territorios ganados a al-Ándalus. En torno al antiguo recinto fortificado debió crecer la villa de Madrid, favorecida por las medidas repobladoras de los monarcas, entre las que destaca la concesión del fuero en 1202.

Sin embargo, Madrid tomó  importancia con la llegada de Felipe II quien trasladó allí la Corte en 1561. Los comienzos de Madrid como capital de la Corte hicieron patente la necesidad de reformas urbanísticas, y pronto surgieron arrabales fuera del recinto medieval que cambiaron el rumbo de la historia de Madrid.

Visiting Madrid

Today we travel through Madrid, the Spanish capital. Some of the curious facts about this city date back to the 9th century, with the construction of the fortress of Emir Mohammed I.
